We've had four closing dates for this damn house that haven't happened, but I think this one, on Monday, is going to be the real thing. I hope. If it's not, I'm going to run around my house screaming!
Our first closing date was cancelled because the house needed a roof and some other work, so we pushed it back in order to get the work done. Our second closing date was pushed back for something-or-another. Our third date was cancelled because we were stuck in appraisal review. And our fourth date was pushed back because there was a typo in the insurace paperwork.
I really don't think anything else can go wrong (I'll only say this while knocking on wood, crossing my fingers, and throwing salt over my shoulder.) So, we'll get the keys on Monday (I hope, I hope, I hope) and probably start moving on Tuesday. If it doesn't happen we'll be a little screwed, as we packed up most of our stuff yesterday!
As for new friends, we went to dinner Friday night with Indigo, Tashi, Meadow & her husband Kirk, and their friends Teruvina, Ben, and their brand-new baby Aloe. The kids had a blast, and it was awesome to have other (really cool) grownups to talk to and hang out with!
We also went to our first SWISH (SouthWest Indiana Secular Homeschoolers) group meeting on Friday, and had a grand time. Meadow, Kirk, and their kids were there, as were Fred & Jake, a father and son that we met through Meadow, and several other families. As it turns out, there are a lot more unschoolers and relaxed homeschoolers in Evansville than I thought! We ate pizza, the kids ran around like hooligans having the time of their lives, we played with milkweed pods and planted seeds, and afterwards some of us spent a chilly half-hour at the park watching the kids run off even more energy. I'm thrilled we've found this community.
Oh, yeah, and the girls have been having an absolute blast with their Auntie Kelly lately. They've had a couple of sleepovers at her house, and they always come home with great stories of painting, eating pizza and candy, watching movies, and snuggling. And tattoos, lots of tattoos :)

We like the compass as a family image or logo. To us it represents many things on many levels, but foremost adventure and direction. A compass can help you get where you are going or find your way back home. It can also help you figure out where you are.
