With that in mind, I bundled up the kids and headed to the Downtown Evansville Farmer's Market last Friday. It was a perfect day; the sun was shining, but it was chilly and you could smell fall in the air.
The first booth we stopped at was Joe Engelbrecht's. We loaded up the stroller with caramel apples and a gallon jug of cider. The kids ate the apples before we left, with sticky candy and juice running down their chins. It was perfect.
At another booth we picked up a cookie for Aidan, who doesn't yet have enough teeth to handle a caramel apple, although he looked willing to try. We also got a bag of dog treats for Gage from Bears Bone Bakery. The samples he had smelled like real peanut butter cookies...I had to keep reminding myself they're for the dog.
Finding the balance between living in the present and planning for the future has been a little difficult lately. Since committing to this plan, it seems all I can think about is getting on the road, what it's going to be like to live in an RV, all the places we'll see and things we'll do. Slowing down, breathing, and pulling myself back into the present can be hard, but it's always worth it. I'm not willing to miss out on today in order to plan for tomorrow.
We like the compass as a family image or logo. To us it represents many things on many levels, but foremost adventure and direction. A compass can help you get where you are going or find your way back home. It can also help you figure out where you are.
